Mehndi
A Mehendi ceremony is an Indian wedding ritual that typically happens one or two days before the wedding. In a typical Mehendi ceremony, all of the women in the bride and groom's families, along with close friends, gather together while the bride has elaborate henna designs applied to her hands and feet.
PLANNING
Get Inspired with ideas to plan your wedding!
Planning a dream wedding is no easy task, but having the right resources and tools available can definitely make it simpler.
Step One: Select a Date
After your engagement announcement or ceremony, it's time to choose the perfect date. Consult with an astrologer or your family Pandit, to look at your horoscope. There are days called Lagan days, which are the most auspicious days to get married. Lagan days are based on the moon and the two horoscopes of people.
Things to Consider when Choosing a Date
Season
This is the most crucial aspect of choosing a date. Do you want a summer wedding or a fall wedding? Outdoor activities or do you prefer indoor? Do you want to wear bright summery colors or velvet?
Wedding Day
What do you want the ceremony to be? Would you prefer a Friday Night-Maticoor ceremony, Saturday-Hindu Wedding and Sunday-Reception? Do you prefer to have it more spaced out in two weeks? Are you planning a destination wedding?
Holidays
Generally, more people are willing to travel and spend their long weekend with the Bride and Groom, but that generosity usually falls short for family holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas.
